Essentials

Everyone has those few items that they rely on for their day-to-day. Some favourite blogs recently did a series on daily essentials. It makes us wonder: what couldn't we live without?

Mondo Boys

While we're on the subject of clever music mixes. Please also take note of Mondo Boys, a "NY/LA mixtape/sound collage collaborative," who release amazing free downloadable mixtapes a few times a year on the Aquarium Drunkard audio blog. The entire Mondo Boys repertoire has been on heavy rotation around these parts lately.

Cabin Fever

Mid January is probably a little too early to be thinking about spring, but we are already feeling the fresh trends that 2011 is going to offer. We're currently into the the clean lines, simple cuts and solid colours of 80s prep-inspired style. Mixing neutrals with bold colour, menswear influence, and dressing up denim staples. The first street style image is from Miss Moss, another G & J favourite. We love her inspired music mixes and clever juxtaposition of art history with contemporary fashion.

After relaunching with Holt Renfrew for FW10 we are excited to announce the arrival of FARAH VINTAGE this February to George & Jane.

Name Dropping

2010 brought George and Jane some notable clients. Xavier Dolan, the award winning screenwriter and director, oozed charisma and charm.
Arcade Fire had just released The Suburbs, which happened to be blasting through the speakers when they stopped in to the boutique.
Atonement star, Romola Garai was even more stunning in person and was able to pull off one of the season's toughest trends (high-waisted, skinny jeans) with ease and confidence, thanks to her amazing physique.
Another one of our favourite albums in rotation at  Boutique George and Jane, is Tokyo Police Club's recent Champ. Coincidently, "Bambi" was the track playing when lead singer and bass player David Monks came to visit. Can't get enough of those catchy hits!
Happy New Year and Thanks to all of our clients who made 2010 a success.
